Wes Parker will be entering his first season in CLPB with the Jupiter Wave. Parker is a 6’4” 220 lb. first baseman coming off of his senior season in high school. Parker will be playing for the University of Toledo.
Wes sees himself as a free swinger and a big time power hitter, being as big as he is, that’s not a big surprise. He’s also an excellent defender, being able to stretch to make plays on errant throws at first base. He’s also played some corner outfield.
Wes Parker participated in the 2021 Power Showcase in Miami, Florida. He hit a total of 16 home runs, including 8 in the finals. He also hit the longest home run of all of the finalists, belting one 471 feet. He said it was a great experience, he got to compete against mostly Division I players and some international players from South Korea.
Parker had a number of different offers to play baseball at the next level. He decided on Toledo because it’s a Division I school, playing in the Mid-American Conference. It’s also somewhat close to home. Parker is from Venetia, Pennsylvania, a suburb of Pittsburgh in the western part of the state.
When asked why he wanted to join CLPB, he said that he learned about it from his father, who does some work in Palm Beach. He was instantly intrigued by the league. He loves the idea of being able to play against great talent from across the country. It will give him a real test being challenged by other great players.
I asked Wes who his favorite player to watch is, the answer wasn’t too surprising to me. He said he loves Giancarlo Stanton. Parker said because “he’s enormous,” and looking at Wes himself, there are some similarities with how they’re built.
Wes Parker is player with some big time power and he has chance to show that off against some really good pitching. He’s definitely a player to watch as the season gets started.
