Rick Wolfer has been selected to lead the the Primal 9 Kings during the 2022 season, their first as a member of the Collegiate League of the Palm Beaches.
Rick started his coaching experience at Piper High School as the Head Varsity Coach from 1998- 2004. While Head Coach at Piper his teams went to four Regional Qualifiers and won a District Championship in 2004. As coach/teacher at Piper, he had the opportunity to coach numerous players that went on to play college and professional baseball including the first player ever drafted out of Piper. The 2005 Lynn University team that went on to win the Division II National Championship had four starters from his Piper Teams. Coach Wolfer also assisted at Broward Community College in 2005 under Bob Deutschman and Felipe Suarez where the Seahawks went on to compete in Grand Junction at the NJCAA Junior College World Series and coach various players that went on to four- year scholarships and professional ball.
Rick is a former left-handed pitcher that played at Piper High School from 1989-1992. Also had the opportunity to play for Mike Roberts for the Coral Springs Pokers from 1990-1993. He went on to walk on at the University of Central Florida in 1993 and finished up pitching at Nova Southeastern University from 1994-1997 under Head Coach Sonny Hansley.
Rick is presently doing private lessons after coaching stints at Calvary Christian Academy, Northeast, and Coral Springs Charter. He is presently working diligently on developing some of his young pitchers holistically with proper arm care, strength training, pitch development, mindfulness training, and academics. Coach Wolfer prides himself on discipline, structure, teaching the fundamentals, and assisting student athletes on getting “to the next level” both on and off the field.
