In the summer of 2021, Isaias Guzman was a site to see whenever he was at the plate or flashing his leather in the field. Guzman was honored with the award of Player of the Year for the CLPB in 2021 after posting a .314 batting average along with 5 homeruns and 27 runs batted in, which were both best in the league, across 86 total at bats. Guzman is currently in his junior season of college baseball and plays at Morehead State University.

In a brief interview with the CLPB Director Operations, Max Dakin, Guzman went on to share the following information on his experience with the CLPB

How would you rate your overall experience with the CLPB this past summer?

Guzman: My overall experience with the CLPB I will say it was an awesome experience to meet a bunch of valuable players out there from different states. Also built a great connection with the CLPB interns. Also got the chance to work with the best of the best Cressey Sport Performance and their hitting crew. Also got the chance to meet one of the best pitchers in the MLB, Justin Verlander. While he was doing his rehab at Cressey also met a couple more, overall exceptional performance. I got the chance to play on some professional fields. Overall, 1-10 I will give the CLPB a 10.

How would you say the CLPB helped you get ready for this past fall at your school?

Guzman: I will personally say playing the most games I can and getting the at bats, training 3x a week with Cressey Performance and working with the Cressey hitting crew. That all got me prepared to transfer all that excellent work into the fall season. The league is all about getting you ready to play at your next spot. All the resources are there, it is all about who wants it more.

How are you doing at your current school?

Guzman: Currently at my school I am doing very well thanks to the man above I finished strong this fall. Finishing up my finals. Right now, I am on winter break, so I have been doing some off season work to get my body and mind ready for the spring season and make this year a wonderful year with the man above leading my way.

Any advice for incoming CLPB players to help them succeed this upcoming summer?

Guzman: Some advice I can give to any incoming players to the CLPB is man enjoy it, it is a great league great atmosphere make sure when you come out you come out hungry and ready to play. Make sure you use the resources they provide like Cressey sport performance, Cressey Hitting (Max Rios), Cressey Pitching. Use the access to the field and cages, its for your own good. Best of luck moving forward.
