The Collegiate League of the Palm Beaches is excited to welcome Rick Wolfer as the manager of the Primal 9 Kings.
“I’m most excited about the chance to coach college baseball again,” Wolfer said. “I’ve spent a lot of time at lower levels, primarily high school. My short stint at Brower College was a while ago. Being involved with Eric Cressey and his training along with his facilities is icing on the cake.”
Wolfer previously coached at Piper High School, Broward College, Calvary Christian Academy, and Coral Springs Charter. His expertise is as a pitcher who played for the Coral Springs Pokers, the University of Central Florida, and Nova Southeastern University.
While he is a very experienced coach, Wolfer considers himself adaptive.
“I’ve been working on pitchers for a long time and I’m always learning,” Wolfer said. “There are so many new methods, teaching techniques, and the technology keeps evolving, so I just have to keep up with everyone else. I’m fortunate enough to also be an educator, so I get to spend time around kids my whole life and get a new set every year. I look forward to helping these players grow as young men and improving their characters if need be.”
Wolfer is excited for the opportunity to meet all of his new players and hit the ground running with them. He’ll wear multiple hats as the head coach while also being super hands on with his pitchers. The thing Wolfer is looking forward to most is helping his players develop even further.
“Every player is going to need to focus on different things, and I can’t wait to help them figure that out and provide them the tools to do so,” Wolfer said.
He also looks forward to using his past coaching opportunities as references for helping and inspiring his players. Wolfer coached 10-year MLB veteran Mike Fiers at Broward College while going to the Junior College World Series.
“There’s so many great stories out there, and it is great to give these players these testimonials so they can still pursue their dreams,” Wolfer said. “It can just take one tweak to unlock everything for some guys.”
