Coach Jason Davis is happy to be back in the CLPB and he will begin his second year of coaching with the Elite Squad Baseball collegiate team. Coach Davis is a players coach, and is looking forward to seeing the progress that his players will make.
When asked about how he measures success as a Coach, Davis had a candid response with a focus on his players achieving their goals.
“With the younger guys, if they’re learning and growing as ball players I think we’ve measured some success there. With the highschool guys if we are getting them ready for college, and the college guys if we’re getting them ready for the pro’s I think there is some success there. The story I always share with the showcase teams in the summer, I can literally lose every game. But, as long as I get everybody on a team, a college team. I think we had a pretty successful summer.”
Davis has coaching experience in almost every level of baseball. He has been a long time coach within the Elite Squad Program, he’s also served as the JV Head Coach for Oxbridge Academy, coached in the American Legion, and been a pitching coach for Palm Beach Central High School.
All the years of coaching and developing relationships with players, has cultivated into one philosophy that Davis always shares at the beginning of the season.
“When you crossover it’s time to work. You’re there for two hours and you never know who’s watching. We’ve had plenty of guys sign their college letters based on some of the workouts that they’ve done. So, you never know who’s watching. You come to work, make it fun, but at the same time we got a job to do.”
In closing when Davis was asked about expectations for his squad this summer. He was open about what needed to change in his second go around.
“Honestly, we gotta do a lot better. I felt like we left a lot on the table last year. We got some returners, so we are gonna review what did not go well and what we did well. So, we can build on it. And, we got some new guys coming in and I just want to make sure they understand that we have some higher expectations this year. I’m not big in excuses, we gotta do better.”
