Wilder Puertas has been a mainstay in the offense for the Palm Beach Marlins through the early part of this CLPB season. Puertas is 13-for-30 for an average of .433, which is second on the team, with 9 RBI and is tied for the team lead in walks with 9.
The 3rd baseman was previously uncommitted when it came to college, he has since made a decision in that regard.
Q: How have you enjoyed CLPB thus far?
A: We’re having fun, getting to know each other, playing the game we love. It’s fun.
Q: You’ve gotten off to a great start this season, what has been the key to your success?
A: Just put the bat on the ball, good things will happen. Try to work the count, make the pitchers work, swing at your type of pitch.
Q: It’s easy to tell that you guys have great chemistry together, is that a product of playing with each other so much?
A: Yeah, last year we had pretty much the same team, and we just have fun with each other. We’re here to have fun.
Q: Previously you were listed as undecided when it came to college, have you considered where you might want to go?
A: I’ve committed to Miami-Dade University.
Q: What is it like playing for a former major league all-star and World Series champion in Alex Gonzalez, considering he’s had success at the highest level?
A: It’s awesome, you just ask questions and he’ll help you out. When we struggle we go to him. He went through all of this, so when he’s there, he’s there. He teaches you, he gets on you for making little errors.
Q: Finish this sentence for me. The Marlins will win the CLPB championship if…
A: There’s no if, when and but.
