Following his debut in the Collegiate League of the Palm Beaches as manager of the Jupiter Wave last season, Alex Jones will return as the Wave manager for the upcoming 2021 season.
Jones, 26, is experienced in the CLPB as well around college baseball circles. He currently is his first season as the hitting coach at Santa Fe College in Gainesville, Florida under Johnny Wiggs and previously served as an assistant coach at Florida Southern College under Lance Niekro.
As a collegiate player Jones spent time at two top division two programs; the University of Montevallo and Florida Southern University. He completed his degree in Exercise Physiology for Jacksonville State University.
When asked about opportunity to be back in the CLPB for this summer, he replied “Got a chance to coach in this league last summer, loved it. Excited to get to run it again, especially after the tough year everyone has had with COVID. Really stoked to get a chance to be on the field!”
We are excited to have Alex back with us again this summer! He bring tons of energy and knowledge of the game to the league. While he is rather early in his coaching career, be brings a ton of experience being around the game at a high-level at a young age as the son of former long-time major leaguer Todd Jones.
