Elite Squad defeated the Parkland Sharks 7-1 on Tuesday thanks to five runs in the fifth inning. Elite Squad’s offense in the inning was led by Luke Gutos, Raul Guillermo, Jack Kieffer, Connor Wilt, and Stephen Bartolotta, all sending runners across the plate with RBIs in the inning.
Elite Squad got things moving in the first inning, when Guillermo singled on a 1-0 count, scoring one run.
The Parkland Sharks evened things up at one in the top of the third inning. Rafael Diaz drove in one when Diaz singled.
Elite Squad pulled away for good with five runs in the fifth inning. In the fifth Gutos singled on the first pitch of the at bat, scoring one run, Guillermo drew a walk, scoring one run, Kieffer drew a walk, scoring one run, Wilt singled on the first pitch of the at bat, scoring one run, and Bartolotta drew a walk, scoring one run.
Eric Romero led Elite Squad to victory on the pitcher’s mound. The bulldog allowed one hit and zero runs over three innings, striking out three and walking one. Garrett Parkins threw two innings in relief out of the bullpen.
Brennen Smith took the loss for the Sharks. The bulldog allowed four hits and four runs over four and a third innings, striking out five.
Luis Sanabria started the game for Elite Squad. Sanabria lasted four innings, allowing two hits and one run while striking out three.
Gutos, Guillermo, Christain Centeno, Wilt, and David Smigelski each collected one hit to lead Elite Squad. Elite Squad was sure-handed and didn’t commit a single error. Guillermomade the most plays with nine.
