With league-leaders in a variety of categories, the South all-stars will be an incredibly tough team to beat on Sunday.
The Scoutz Pirates are arguably the hottest team in the league the past couple weeks. A few All-Star selections have commanded the CLPB on both sides of the field.
Selecting the league-leader in batting average and runs batted in, catcher Kai Montaño (.371 avg. & 19 RBI’s) and league-leader in strikeouts, right-handed pitcher Ford Townsend (21.2 IP, 9 ER & 34 K’s).
One of the leagues most exciting defenders, Palm Beach Snowbirds Outfielder DeeJay Booth, gets the nod for team South this year! Booth has been fabulous for the Birds defensively and carries a .327 BA avg. with 10 RBI’s.
Parkland Sharks Pitcher Tyler Smith has been lights out so far this year. A stellar 4-1 record, Tyler has thrown 30 innings, and struck out 28! He credits the Sharks fabulous defense and his day to day adjustments to his summer success.
“As a pitcher, so much of your success is in the hands of your teammates on defense, and without them I would not be in this position… Coming from school ball this spring, a big thing for me has always been to try and get better from one start to the next. Whether its after each game being able to call my dad and talk about it with him or being able to get the thoughts from our manager, has been amazing for me this summer. “
Tyler was honored by the well-deserved nomination from his coaches.
“It means a lot to know that I was selected by my coaching staff to be an All-Star this summer… to know that they notice all the work being put in means a lot. Getting the opportunity to play in this game with some of my teammates is going to be really fun and really special.”
Another multi-talented prospect for the South is speedster Edgar Perez. League-leader in stolen bases with 13, expect Edgar to get on, be active on the base paths, and steal a bag or two.
Both North & South will be managed by the coaching staff of the two teams atop their divisional standings.
The coaching staff of the Scoutz Pirates will coach the South Division as the Pirates hold the second-best record in the division at 12-10.
We want to congratulate each and every player that was selected to the 2021 CLPB All-Star Game from the South Division, good luck on Sunday!
